Overview: Translation Department

The Department of Translation at Jadara University now includes two academic programs: the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Translation and the Master’s Degree Program in Translation. The Department of Translation was established in 2009. The Bachelor's Program in Translation is a specialized professional program that provides the necessary foundation for the preparation of effective and qualified translators. The Bachelor's Program in Translation consists of theoretical and practical parts, in addition to field training. The Bachelor's Program in Translation prepares students to work in the field of translation after undergoing extensive training in translation and interpretation, which includes: consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. The program consists of a sufficient number of basic language skills courses in both English and Arabic, and it applies comparative and analytical approaches to various concepts related to translation at the phonemic, morphological, syntactic, semantic, and discourse levels. In addition, translation evaluation, proofreading, and revision are notable features of translation software. The Department of English Language and Literature launched the MA in Translation Studies program in September 2021. The MA in Translation Studies aims to provide students with the skills of professional translators, to provide translation services to local, international, and regional companies. The Department of Translation is also working closely with the Hashemite University to establish a PhD program in Translation.
